Esophageal Atresia
INFORMATION ON ESOPHAGEAL ATRESIA:-
Esophageal Atresia is a result of disorder of digestive system. In Esophageal Atresia esophagus does not develop properly. This disorder occurs before birth
(Congenital defect).
SYNOMS OF ESOPHAGEAL ATRESIA:-
Tracheoesophageal fistula
CAUSES OF ESOPHAGEAL ATRESIA:-
The actual cause of Esophageal Atresia is not known but it has been predicted that disorder will be due to improper development of tubes (esophagus & trachea) during embryo formation.
SYMPTOMS OF ESOPHAGEAL ATRESIA:-
1. Excessive salivation.
2. Drooling.
3. Poor feeding.
4. Coughing, gagging and choking.
5. Bluish coloration of skin.
DIAGNOSIS OF ESOPHAGEAL ATRESIA:-
Prediction of Esophageal Atresia can be done by:-
1. X-ray.
2. Ultrasonography.
3. CT scan.
PREVENTION OF ESOPHAGEAL ATRESIA:-
Surgery to errect the esophagus is done immediately after the infant has been stabilized. Before the surgery, the infant is not fed by mouth, and care is taken to prevent the infant from breathing secretions into the lungs.
