Enterocolitis
INFORMATION ON ENTEROCOLITIS:-
Enterocolitis may be defined as the inflammation of mucous membrane of small intestine & large intestine. Enterocolitis is also an inflammation of colon. It is a serious type of intestinal infection.
CAUSES OF ENTEROCOLITIS:-
The major cause of enterocolitis is consumption of contaminated food, water.
Besides these causes enterocolitis can also be spread through
1. Poultry ingestion.
2. Owing pets like lizards etc.
3. Patient with impaired immune system.
SYMPTOMS OF ENTEROCOLITIS:-
1. Abdominal pain.
2. Vomiting.
3. Fever.
4. Chills.
5. Muscle pain.
6. Diarrhea.
7. Nausea.
8. Tender abdomens.
9. Rose spot on skin.
DIAGNOSIS OF ENTEROCOLITIS:-
In order to diagnose enterocolitis following procedure must be followed:-
1. Abdominal X-ray.
2. Stool culture.
3. Blood culture.
4. Urine test.
5. Spinal fluid test.
PREVENTION OF ENTEROCOLITIS:-
Prevention of enterocolitis can be done by:-
1. Medicinal treatment.
2. Operational treatment.
MEDICINAL TREATMENT OF ENTEROCOLITIS:-
About 80% of subjects are cured with medicinal treatment followed by the use of antibiotics and injection of fluid in to blood stream.
OPERATIONAL TREATMENT OF ENTEROCOLITIS:-
Operational is only adopted when continuous sign of spreading of infection is seen in subject’s body followed by worsening heart and liver functions. The surgery is carried out by removal of dead or dying intestine.
