INFORMATION ON COLLAGENOUS COLITIS:-

Collagenous colitis is a type of bowel inflammation that affect colon. Collagenous colitis is not that sever as that of Crohn’s disease which cause severe inflammation to colon. Collagenous colitis is also called as microscopic colitis.

CAUSE OF COLLAGENOUS COLITIS:-

1. Bacteria.
2. Virus.
3. Toxic substance.
4. Destruction due to autoimmune system.

SYMPTOMS OF COLLAGENOUS COLITIS:-
1. Abdominal pain.
2. Abdominal cramps.
3. Non-bloody diarrhea.

DIAGNOSIS OF COLLAGENOUS COLITIS:-

1. Performing biopsy.
2. Colonoscopy.

PREVENTION OF COLLAGENOUS COLITIS:-

There are two method of treatment for Collagenous colitis they are:-
1. Medicinal treatment.
2. Operational treatment.

MEDICINAL TREATMENT OF COLLAGENOUS COLITIS:-

Medicinal treatment includes prescribing medicines such as anti inflammatory medicines includes mesalamine, Sulfasalazine in order to reduce swelling.
Steroids such as budesonide & prednisone etc can also be prescribed by doctor.
Anti diarrheal medicine can also be considered if long term suffering of diarrhea exists.

OPERATIONAL TREATMENT OF COLLAGENOUS COLITIS:-

Operational treatment comes into play when medication does not relief the subject. Operational treatment includes removal all or part of the colon according to severity of inflammation.
