Dermatitis
Dermatitis is also called as Eczema; It is an inflammation of the skin. ‘DERM’ Means SKIN, and ‘itis’ means inflammation.
Symptoms
The symptom which appears on the skin is Redness, Itching and often blisters are found. Contact and Atopic dermatitis are the most prevalent forms of eczema. It is very common condition which affects 7 to 8% of the population.
Causes
Dermatitis has many causes it includes contact with an irritating substance, eczema, immune disease and allergic reaction. Its can affect all ages from small child to adult one. In this condition itch is intense, and makes the person scratch.
Treatment
It is important to discuss a dermatologist (skin specialist) or medical professional for treatment of Dermatitis. But, there are a few skin care tips that may reduce the irritation:
1. You should avoid irritants which can cause a rash or make a rash worse. These include soaps which dry the skin, even perfumes, and scratchy clothing or bed sheets.
2. You should avoid possible allergens which cause a rash or can make a rash worse. These may include dust, animal dander, and certain foods, such as eggs, milk, Soya products and wheat.
3. To Control itch and scratch. You should keep your fingernails trimmed and filely smooth to help prevent damaging the skin while scratching. You should use protective dressings to keep from rubbing the affected area. Put cotton covering on your baby's hands to help prevent him or her from scratching the area.
Treatment always varies with diagnosis of the cause and kind of skin disorder. Dermatitis is not life threatening but can cause discomfort to you.
