Gingivitis that occurs during pregnancy is known as pregnancy gingivitis. Because of pregnancy there are some hormonal changes, which are able to increase the risk factor for gingivitis.
Causes of pregnancy gingivitis
in pregnancy, there are several reason of gum disease. One reason is increased blood flow during pregnancy that causes your gums to swell and become very tender. Hormonal changes are another main reason of Gingivitis. These hormonal changes leave your gums more sensitive to the bacteria, that hide in plaque.
Signs and symptoms
there are few symptoms of gum disease-
1) Swollen gums
2) Appearances of the gums is reddish or purple red.
3) Bad breathe
4) bad tastes in the mouth
5) shiny gums
6) bleeding gums (after brushing or flossing)
Treatment for pregnancy gingivitis
At least two dental cleanings is necessary for all pregnant women. It decreases the chances of gum disease in the pregnancy. If you already have gingivitis then you need to complete cleaning. This will remove extra plaque from your teeth and around your gum line. Root planning is required in the serious gingivitis.
Preventions
Daily brush your teeth with fluoride toothpaste at least once a day. Always use soft tooth brush and also brush your teeth in proper manner. Visit your oral health professional.
