LEUKOPLAKIA

INFORMATION ON LEUKOPLAKIA:-

Leukoplakia may be defined as the white or gray patch that develops on tongue or inside of the cheek. Leukoplakia is the reaction of the mouth to chronic infection of the mucous membranes of the mouth.


CAUSES OF LEUKOPLAKIA:-

The events which favors the development of Leukoplakia are:-

1. Genetic disorders.
2. Rough teeth, fillings, or crowns.
3. Smoking.
4. Exposure to Sun.
5. Oral cancer.
6. HIV or AIDS.

SYMPTOMS OF LEUKOPLAKIA:-

1. White or gray colored patches on your tongue, gums.

DIAGNOSIS OF LEUKOPLAKIA:-

In order to detect Leukoplakia clinically doctor uses a clinical method called biopsy.


TREATMENT OF LEUKOPLAKIA:-

Treatment of Leukoplakia involves removing the source of irritation, if Leukoplakia is caused by a rough tooth or an irregular surface on a denture then tooth will be smoothed. If Leukoplakia is caused by smoking, you will be asked to minimize or stop smoking.
