Impacted Tooth

An impacted tooth can be defined as a tooth that is unable to fully emerge through the gums.
It is also known as Tooth – unemerged,
Unemerged tooth, Dental impaction, Unerupted tooth.

Causes of impacted teeth

If a tooth unable to emerge or partially emerge then we say that it is impacted. Our wisdom teeth that are mostly become impacted,which are emerge in the age of 17-21. Teeth emerge through the gums when the baby teeth are replaced by the permanent teeth.
The main cause of Impacted tooth is
disproportions between the teeth and jaw (particularly wisdom teeth).
The teeth become tilted or twisted and may be masked in the gum.

Signs and symptoms

1) pain in your gums because of impacted teeth.
2) Bad breathe
3) Arround the impacted tooth ,there is swelling and some redness of the gums.
4)
There is some visible gap where a tooth did not emerge
5) Feel uncomfortable in opening the mouth
6)
Jaw ache


Treatment for impacted tooth

There is no need to treat the impacted tooth if it does not cause any infection or does not affect the alignment of other teeth. Warm salt water may be soothing to the gums.
For an impacted tooth removal of the tooth is the usual treatment. Only the professional dentist can extract an impacted tooth. If the area around the tooth is infected ,antibiotics may be required prior to tooth extraction.
