Laser facial resurfacing is a procedure in which the upper layer of the skin of the face gets removed using laser. This procedure is used to remove the wrinkles and damaged skin to improve the dead skin. This procedure is also effective in treating facial scars or areas of uneven pigmentation.
A laser is a beam of light radiation, which delivers intense energy to a specific area of skin. It can be used for the treatment of whole face or a specific area.
Why is laser facial resurfacing required?
The appearance of the skin can be improved by Laser facial resurfacing .It can be used for -
• removing superficial wrinkles
• tightening your skin
• smoothing rough skin
• improving the look of shallow acne or chicken pox scars
Procedure
A CO2 or Erbium laser is used to remove the top layer of skin by vaporizing the superficial cells and tightening the underlying collagen. The laser resurfacing destroys the outer layers of damaged skin and then, as the new cells form during the healing process, a smoother skin surface will appear. For deeper wrinkles, parts of the dermis can also be removed.
There are many different types of Lasers but for laser skin resurfacing the most effective laser is a Carbon Dioxide (CO2) LASER
After laser treatment the skin becomes red like deep sunburn. This condition lasts for 7-10 days, or it can also take months depending on your skin type and healing.
Side Effects
