Cosmetic Eyelid Surgery

As the age of the person increases, the skin around the eyes loses its elasticity. There may develop loose folds of skin on the upper eyelids and deep creases on the lower lids. And excess skin and fat gets accumulated around the eyelids. This excess fat causes the appearance of puffiness in the eyes.

Cosmetic eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, is procedure in which excess fat, skin and muscles are remove from the upper and lower eyelids.Incisions are made in the upper and lower eyelids and excess skin, fat and muscles are removed and then the incisions are closed with very fine sutures

Transconjunctival blepharoplasty

In Transconjunctival blepharoplasty a small incision is made in the lower eyelid, leaving no visible scar. Excess of fats and muscles are removed and incision is closed.
Transconjunctival blepharoplasty does not tighten the skin it simply removes excess fat and muscles.

Blepharoplasty Side Effects

Side Effects of Blepharoplasty include swelling, bruising; itching, and watering of eyes. Some patients may have difficulty in closing their eyes when they sleep. Applying a cold compress, can help to reduce the swelling and bruising. Eyelid surgery may have a risk of infection, bleeding, or reaction to anesthesia

The person suffering form diabetes, cardiovascular disease, thyroid problems, such as hypothyroidism or Grave's Disease , high blood pressure and glaucoma should not go for blepharoplasty.
