For the most part, breast lift procedures are performed under general anesthesia .The three different types of breast lift surgical techniques are:
Concentric mastopexy
Vertical mastopexy
Anchor-shaped mastopexy
Concentric mastopexy a surgical technique that removes excess skin around the areola border that is marked by the drawing of concentric circles around the areola.
Vertical mastopexy, In this type of breast lift surgical excess skin is removed around the areola by making a vertical incision that goes from the areola down to the bottom fold of the patient's breast.
Anchor-shaped mastopexy, which is the most common breast implant surgical technique that removes excess skin. an anchor-shaped incision is made along the breast’s contour. The incision will come from both sides of the breast and intersect above the nipple. The nipple and areola are moved to the higher position and reshaped after removing excess of skin.
Breast lift surgery generally takes about one to five hours to complete. The length of the procedure varies according to the technique used.
After surgery, the breasts will be swollen and bruised for a few days. The patient feels pain after surgery which is greatest within the first 48 hours, but improves with each day. Overhead lifting and strenuous movements should be avoided for several weeks. Bleeding or infection, temporary or permanent loss of nipple sensation may also occur after surgery. Breast lift surgery is not permanent. It can be again caused by additional pregnancies, weight gain.
