Breast enlargement or breast augmentation, also known as augmentation mammoplasty, is a surgical procedure to enlarge the size and shape of a woman's breast.
It is the procedure in which the person's breast tissue size and shape are improved through the implementation of breast implants. A very inconspicuous incision is made and a small sack is inserted through it, filled with a simple saline formula, and positioned in the patient's breast. There are several options for incision location and implant location for breast augmentation surgery. The incision may be placed at various locations such as: under the breast, periareolar which is at the edge of the areola, within the areola, in the armpit. The breast enlargement implant is inserted through this incision and placed either above or below the pectoral muscles.
After the breast enlargement implant is placed properly, the incision is closed and the breast enlargement surgery is completed.
Saline breast implants are implants made of a silicone rubber sack filled with a saline solution.
After the breast enlargement surgery is completed the patient is asked to do limited activities and take rest.
