A nice nose is a permanent feature on one's face. If you are unhappy with the appearance of your nose, rhinoplasty can produce effective, permanent results.
Rhinoplasty or nose surgery is the most common procedure of plastic surgery in which the structure of the nose is changed. It is used to reshape or change the size of the nose.
Procedure
During rhinoplasty a small incision is made and the nose skin is separated from its supporting framework of bone and cartilage, and it is then sculpted to the desired shape. The skin is then re-draped over the new framework. Among the most frequent procedures are the cartilage grafts to lift or correct the bridge and to shape the tip.
When the surgery is completed nasal packs or soft plastic splints are placed in the nostrils to stabilize the septum and maintain the new form of nose. External nasal dressings and splints are removed within week after surgery.
Side effects of nose surgery
After surgery, during the first twenty-four hours the face will feel puffy, the nose may have pain and also their may be some headache. Swelling and bruising around the eyes can also be experienced which can increase at first, reaching a peak after two or three days. Applying cold compresses reduces this swelling.
There can be also some risks with rhinoplasty like bursting of some blood vessels, bleeding, minor swelling and reaction to the anesthesia.
