Surgery is seldom necessary, unless tonsillitis recurs often or it interferes with breathing or swallowing Tonsillitis can be defined as a infection of the tonsils. Tonsillitis mostly occurs as a part of a throat infection.
There are various types of tonsillitis-

1) Acute tonsillitis.
2) Recurrent tonsillitis.
3) Chronic tonsillitis.
4) Peritonsillar abscess.

DIAGNOSIS OF TONSILLITIS
The doctor may suggest prenatal screening tests to check for spina bifida. When spina bifida is diagnosed before birth, health care professionals can provide parents with information and support.

1 Blood Test.
2 Ultrasound.
3 Amniocentesis.

TREATMENT OF TONSILLITIS
Tonsillitis caused by some bacterial or viral infection. Antibiotics medications are used in the treatment of tonsillitis to reduce the bacterial infection. Antibiotics are not more effective in the case of viral infection. Viral infection can be treated with antiviral medications.

Take fallowing precautions to reduce the chances of tonsillitis –

1 Do not share toothbrushes, drinking glass etc with a tonsillitis patient.
2 Wash your hands properly.
3 When you cough or sneeze, always cover your mouth.
