Venous Incompetence
Venous incompetence is a disease related to dysfunctions in blood vessels. In other words we can say that venous incompetence is a condition in which veins can be blocked or swelled. When the blood vessels get blocked then the disease known as Venous Thrombosis and in case of swelled veins, the disease known as Varicose Veins. Venous incompetence includes both diseases of veins, varicose veins and venous thrombosis.
Varicose Veins:
Veins are the blood vessels that carries impure and oxygen less blood from body to our heart. The veins those get enlarged and swelled are called as Varicose Veins. Varicose veins are dark blue and purple, curved veins and generally found or develop in legs, very close to skin surface. The arteries carries oxygen rich and nutritious blood to the legs also and after giving this pure blood the impure and oxygen less blood return back to the heart. This impure blood from legs to heart is carried by leg veins in opposite direction of gravitational force. These veins have valves those keep track on blood flow so that blood flows in only forward direction. By contraction and relaxation these valves get opened and closed respectively. Some times due to any stress or stretch on leg muscles these valves loses their power and result is flow of impure blood in wrong or backward direction.
In this case vein walls become weaker and damaged and varicose veins may occur. The mild situation in varicose veins is known as spider veins.
Venous Thrombosis:
Thrombosis is a medical term that is used for blood clot. Venus Thrombosis is a disease of veins when the vein have problem of blood clotting in blood. In normal case veins supplies impure blood to the heart from body organs. Due to the venous thrombosis the veins are unable to carry enough blood than a normal case because blood clot works as a barrier in blood path.
The leg of a human being has two type of veins, one is superficial veins and the another one is deep veins. Superficial veins are nearer to skin surface and deep veins found in deep areas of legs. A blood clot occur in deep veins is known as Deep Venus thrombosis (DVT). Generally superficial veins form varicose veins. This blood clot divides into small pieces, called as embolus. In few cases, this embolus can be reach at right atrium or right ventricle or one of the pulmonary arteries. Then it may be create major blockage and blood can't flow freely and Pulmonary Embolism may be possible which is a higher risk of major diseases.
