Varicose Veins
Veins are the blood vessels that carries impure and oxygen less blood from body to our heart. The veins those get enlarged and swelled are called as varicose veins. Varicose veins are dark blue and purple, curved veins and generally found or develop in legs, very close to skin surface.
The arteries carry oxygen rich and nutritious blood to the legs also and after giving this pure blood the impure and oxygen less blood return back to the heart. This impure blood from legs to heart is carried by leg veins in opposite direction of gravitational force. These varicose veins have valves those keep track on blood flow so that blood flows in only forward direction.
By contraction and relaxation these valves get opened and closed respectively. Some times due to any stress or stretch on leg muscles these valves loses their power and result is flow of impure blood in wrong or backward direction.
In this case vein walls become weaker and damaged and varicose veins may occur. In mild situations the varicose veins is known as spider veins.
