Cardiogenic shock or shock Cardiogenic is one of the heart disease in which heart is unable to supply sufficient blood to the body organs. Problem in blood supply happens due to primary failure of one of the ventricle of the heart so that ventricles are unable to function effectively and result is lack of blood and oxygen in body organs.
After cardiogenic shock condition cells becomes dead in absense of oxygen and nutrition and this condition known as hypoxia.
Causes of cardiogenic shock:
There are various causes due to those cardiogenic shock may occur. Some times there is breakage of interventricular septum may possible that separates both ventricular and cardiogenic shock occur. Rupture of free cardiac wall, acute mitral regurgitation, severe valvular heart disease and Myocardial suppression are also main causes of cardiogenic shock.
Symptoms of Cardiogenic shock:
• Chest pains may occur.
• Hypotension due to decrease in cardiac output.
• Nausea and vomiting
• Dyspnoea
• Profuse sweating
• Confusion/disorientation
• Palpitations
• Faintness/syncope
• Cool, clammy, and mottled skin
Treatment for Cardiogenic shock:
Its very severe condition so that hospitalization is must. Treatment of Cardiogenic shock starts from exact identification of cause of Cardiogenic shock because every doctor’s goal is to save patient’s life. Various drugs requires for proper blood flow and heart functioning like Dopamine, dobutamine, epinephrine, norepinephrine, amrinone etc
Instead of this following are very important :
• Cardiac pacing (pacemaker)
• Heart monitoring, including hemodynamic monitoring, to guide treatment
