Introduction of Arteriosclerosis and Atherosclerosis
Arteries, the blood vessels that supplies pure blood means oxy blood with nutrients from heart to all over our body and due to this blood every organ of our body works properly. Sometimes because of some disorders or dysfunctions, arteries have problem in blood transfer. One of these major problems is Arteriosclerosis.
In Arteriosclerosis, arteries get hardness and become weak in their work. A fatty substance deposits on inner walls of arteries so that blood has problem in flowing smoothly. If Coronary arteries have the problem of deposition, the disease known as Arteriosclerosis but another term is also used with Arteriosclerosis interchangeably that is Atherosclerosis. Atherosclerosis is differ from Arteriosclerosis because in Atherosclerosis, large and medium sized arteries have problem of fat deposition.
Causes and symptoms:
High blood pressure or hypertension, smoking, virus infection, diabetes problem and any other hereditary problem are main causes of Atherosclerosis and Arteriosclerosis. Inactive lifestyle in which physical activity is very less may also a cause for Arteriosclerosis. Arteriosclerosis may be happen in any organ of our body because it's related to arteries. Heart, kidneys, abdominal aorta, brain and legs are the main center of arteriosclerosis.
If arteriosclerosis happens in coronary arteries, then symptoms will be like chest pains, weakness. Stroke and heart failure may be possible in case of arteriosclerosis in brain. Other symptoms are also related to a particular organ.
Treatment:
Cholesterol control drugs, anti platelet drugs like aspirin, prostaglandins are some drugs are available for arteriosclerosis treatment. These drugs protect the wall of arteries from arteriosclerosis and blood clot. In severe blockage or full blockage surgeons prescribes surgery. Angioplasty, embolectomy, vascular surgery, endarterectomy and thrombolytic therapy may be used in vast situations.
