INFORMATION ON GALLBLADDER CANCER

The gallbladder is a pear-shaped organ that lies just under the liver in the upper abdomen. It is an uncommon cancer disease in which cancer (malignant) cells are found in the tissues of the gallbladder. The majority of gallbladder tumors are found in glandular tissue within the gallbladder (adenocarcinoma). Cancer of the gallbladder is more common in women than in men.

Although the exact cause of gallbladder isn't clear, researchers believe that DNA in the cells of the biliary tract may be damaged by toxins. These toxins are released into bile so that they can be eliminated from your body.
